Here are some photos depicting The Valley
The Rio Grande Valley lies in the southeastern most part of Texas. It consists of a 60 mile east to west stretch along Highway 83 and north to south from Harlingen to Brownsville along highway 77.

The Rio Grande River separates the United States from Mexico as it flows through The Valley on its way to the Gulf of Mexico near South Padre Island.

Joe and the Balloons

Joe went home to visit his wife over the Christmas and New Year Holidays.  The Eastside Gang and their Cohorts, at Rolly's urging, filled thousands of balloons and placed them in Joe's bathroom.  When Joe came home and opened the door he was attacked by balloons. He ran to the front door, shouting explitives.  According to Joe, his feet kept moving even though his brain said balloons.

Our Friend, Tom, takes instruction from our Nancy on how to eat a crab leg

Our friend, Tom, had never eaten crab legs until the Eastside Gang took him to Louie's Backyard on south Padre Island. Nancy was kind enough to give him instructions.

The Ice House
On Saturdays we like to visit The Ice House. There have a great singer/keyboard player. When he plays Proud Mary, a bunch of people get down on the floor and roll to the lyrics--rollin on the river--

We also eat half-priced chicken wings and share a few pitchers of beer.

Help me come up with a new version of the Ugly-abra
This is the latest version. Steve went on the Internet and found the flags and little animals. Note that there is a figurehead on the side in the form of Taz.

The Ugly-abra story:

Steve and Evelyn bought a mobile home last year. In the mobile, along with furniture, dishes and other useable things was this curio. He painted it silver, glued a piece of toweling to the bottom and called it an anniversary gift to us last winter.

I redecorated it with fake jewels and lots of garish paint and gave it back to them as a house-warming gift.

This year it came back to us with a new name. It is now the 2005 International Peace Ark.

It has to get redone and go back to them next year. I need some creative assistance. Pleas help.

OTHER USES FOR A FREIGHTLINER RV HAULER
Freightliner Rv Haulers are very versitile vehicles. Ours has been used as a compressor for blowing up baloons and a parade float.

Here we are as a float in the Twin palms Mardi Gras parade
We were a float in the Rio Hondo Christmas Parade
Barry drove and our friend, Chihp, played the Ultimate Horn. Chip was fond of playing The Chicken Dance so there I was on the back of the truck dancing like a chicken. All the kids loved us.

Tamale Party
We decided to participate in the local culture. Instead of doing a craft project, we had a tamale party. One kind lady made the meat and mas harina ahead of time. We all had fun chatting while making the tamales. They tasted great, too.
